About Veltins-Arena

Veltins-Arena is a German indoor stadium located in the city of Gelsenkirchen. First opened in 2001, the stadium was originally named Arena Auf Schalke. In the past, Veltins-Arena hosted the 2004 UEFA Champions League and few matches of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Besides football, the stadium regularly hosts ice hockey and music concerts. Since 2001, the stadium has been home to German professional football club FC Schalke 04. It is the fourth largest stadium in Bundesliga, the German football league.

Currently, Veltins-Arena can accommodate up to 62,200 football fans. The renovations over the years have made it state of the art with modern facilities. You will be impressed at the large video cube (4-paneled LCD display) that extends to 76.32 m² per side and displays scores, stats, and highlights. Additionally, you will find a sliding roof that acts as a shield to protect from daylight or rain. It’s not just the convertible roof; the design of a stadium with more than 200 floodlights is sure to impress you.

Veltins-Arena is easily accessible through train, subway, light rail, and bus. If taking the tram, you can reach the venue easily from Gelsenkirchen’s main railway station. Are you driving your own car? On event days, it will be completely packed, and it’s best to opt for public transportation. However, you will still find ample parking spaces around the ground. There are more than 14,000 parking spaces you can book on event days.
