Gwen Stefani has found success as a founding member and singer of the ska-pop group No Doubt and as a solo artist.
Who is Gwen Stefani?
Born in Fullerton, California, on October 3, 1969, Gwen Stefani first gained popularity in the 1990s as the lead singer of No Doubt. She went on to have a very successful solo career and started her own clothing line, LAMB. After breaking up with her bandmates No Doubt in the early 2000s to start a solo career, Stefani reunited her band in 2012. The pop icon went on to be a successful solo artist and made her seventh season coaching debut for NBC’s The Voice in September 2014.
Youth and training, no doubt
Singer, songwriter, and designer Gwen Stefani was born on October 3, 1969, in Fullerton, California. Since becoming the lead singer of No Doubt, Stefani has grown into a popular and powerful figure in the music and fashion world.
Learning to sew with her mother, Stefani developed an interest in fashion at an early age. His love for music was influenced by his older brother, Eric, who recorded recordings for groups such as Madness. With his friend John Spence as lead vocalist, Eric founded the group No Doubt, and Gwen soon joined them as the second vocalist. Stefani started dating her bandmate Tony Kanal around this time.
After spence’suicide in 1987, Stefani became No Doubt’s singer. The group has worked in clubs around their home county, Orange, for several years. Eventually signed to Interscope Records, No Doubt released their self-titled debut album in 1992. Unfortunately, this album failed to garner much attention from critics or music-buying audiences.
Stefani’s relationship with Kanal was also a disappointment at the end of 1993. Two years later, the group suffered another defeat when Eric Stefani left the group.
Marriage to Shelton Blake
One of music’s most talked-about couples, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, have tied the knot, getting married just before the Fourth of July festivities in a private ceremony attended by only a small group of family and friends.
On July 5, Stefani declared the big news by sharing the first wedding photos on Instagram and confirming their wedding date. “July 3rd, 2021 dreams do come true !!!” she captioned the post. “@blakeshelton, I love you.” In the slideshow, the No Doubt singer showed off her gorgeous Vera Wang gown and their decadent wedding cake, crediting all of the people who helped turned their wedding into a reality. In a separate post, Stefani also revealed her spunky reception look. “You need a party dress when u get to marry @blakeshelton,” she wrote.
Successes with ‘Tragic Kingdom’
With Tragic Kingdom (1995), No Doubt established itself as a dominant force in popular music. Their distinctive ska, punk, and pop flavor has won over many new fans. Reaching the top of the album charts at the end of 1996, the recording’s success was due in part to the success of the single “Just a Girl,” the video of which helped make Stefani both a fashion icon. And a star.
Like Madonna before her, Stefani wowed fans with her personal style: she looks borrowed from many scenes and cultures, from punk-style bondage pants to forehead decoration, known as the bindi traditionally worn by some Indian women.
Known for her deeply personal lyrics, Stefani found a lot in her failed relationship with Kanal. It’s said to be the inspiration for the popular ballad “Don’t Speak,” another tragic kingdom hit. “Excuse me, sir” and “Spiderwebs” also made noise on the cards.

The band’s follow-up album, Saturn’s Return (2000), performed well and again featured very personal lyrics from Stefani. In the song “Ex-Girlfriend,” she expressed her frustration over a horrific breakup.
Around the same time, Stefani dyed her trademark shiny white-blonde hair fuchsia. She told Marie Claire magazine that this bright new color was in response to her breakup with Gavin Rossdale, frontman of the grunge band Bush. The couple later returned together.
Stefani began to become a full-fledged artist in 2001, singing on Eve’s hit “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” and Moby’s hit single “South Side.” She even won her first Grammy Award for her work with Eve, winning the award for Best Rap / Sung Collaboration.
That same year, No Doubt released the album Solid as a Rock, which had strong hip-hop and reggae influences. The group won two Grammy Awards for the songs on this album in two different years: “Hey Baby” received the best pop performance by a duo or group with Vocal in 2002, and “Underneath It All” won the same. Solo albums: ‘Love.Angel.Music.Baby’ and ‘The sweet escape.’
In 2004 Stefani released his first solo album titled, Love.Angel.Music.Baby, which had more of a pop and club sound to it than his work with No Doubt. In making this album, Stefani collaborated with a number of renowned songwriters and producers, including Dre Dre, Dallas Austin, Linda Perry, Kanal, and Eve, with whom she delivered the hit song “Rich Girl.” One of the most popular songs of the summer of 2005, “Hollaback Girl,” was an even bigger hit.
As if her success weren’t enough, Stefani made her film debut as sex symbol Jean Harlow The Aviator (2004) with Leonardo DiCaprio.
His next solo effort, The Sweet Escape (2006), was also a success. Stefani won a Grammy nomination for her duet with Akon on the album’s title track.
No doubt reunited
After joining her bandmates No Doubt on a nationwide tour in 2009, Stefani and the band reunited again in 2012. They performed the song together at the Teen Choice Awards in July and soon after were released. Push and Push; their first studio album together in almost 11 years. This recording is filled with the ska-influenced sound that contributed to Stefani and the band’s worldwide fame. No Doubt seemed determined to return to their previous success, embarking on a busy promotional and touring schedule to make this album their next big hit.

In mid 2014 Stefani took her career in a new direction by enlisting as a coach in the famous reality contest. The voice. Pregnant Christina Aguilera, Stefani, and her newcomer, Pharrell Williams, have joined the group for longtime Voice coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine for the program’s seventh season. She then returned to a coaching seat for the ninth and twelfth seasons.
New albums and Las Vegas residency
After a hiatus in making new films, Stefani released the single “Used to Love You” in October 2015 ahead of the March 2016 release of This Is What The Truth Says. She then delivered her second musical album in as many years in October 2017, the vacation-themed film. It feels like Christmas.
The following summer Stefani began a 25-person residency at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater in Las Vegas, her Just a Girl show featuring the biggest hits of her time with No Doubt and as a solo artist.
Gwen Stefani Personal life and other projects
Stefani married actress Gavin Rossdale in a lavish ceremony in London on September 14, 2002, wearing a white and pink dress designed by John Galliano. Two other celebrations took place, including one in Los Angeles.
The following year Stefani transformed her love of fashion into a LAMB (which stands for Love Angel Music Baby) clothing line.
Stefani and Rossdale welcomed their son Kingston James McGregor Rossdale on May 26, 2006. Their second son,called Zuma Nesta Rock, was born on August 21, 2008, and their third son,called Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, was born on February 28, 2014.
In August 2015, after more than a dozen years happily together, Stefani and Rossdale decided to leave the job and announced that they were in the process of getting a divorce. In November 2015, Stefani and fellow Voice coach and musician Blake Shelton went public with their relationship.
